Clubs & Zones The Alberta Fish & Game Association is divided in 6 zones, with each zone repesented on the provincial executive by a Zone Chairman. Please note that the AFGA will provide up to $2,400 as a 0% loan for any interested parties who wish to start an affiliated Fish and Game Club. Please contact Martin at the office for information. JOIN US Zone 1 - is in the southern most part of Alberta, extending from the BC border to the Saskatchewan border. It has the largest expanse of prairie habitat, along with the fascinating southern eastern slopes.
Zone 2 - covers an area form the BC border to the Saskatchewan border. Although it includes some prairie landscape, it is largely a transition area to the parkland area in the east. It's eastern slopes has some of the finest elk and sheep habitat in Alberta. The city of Calgary is in this zone.
Zone 3 - covers an area from the BC border to the Saskatchewan border. This Zone has the highest percentage of parkland left in the province. There are many fine trout streams in the west along the foothills, much agricultural land and some of the best goose and Whitetail deer country in Alberta.
Zone 4 - Covers the area from Edmonton to B.C. border to the west, and includes the area from Whitecourt to Drayton Valley. Some Zone 4 clubs are in the City of Edmonton.
Zone 5 - covers from the City of Edmonton the Saskatchewan border in the east and from the NWT border in the north to Vegreville in the south. It is the largest zone by geography, membership and number of clubs. The boreal forest covers a large portion of the zone, along with some fringe farming areas, and the remnants of the parkland region. Alberta's Lakeland is in this zone, the area where the largest percentage of angling takes place in the province. Excellent goose populations are present in the eastern part of the zone in the parkland and agricultural areas, with large numbers of Whitetail and mule deer, along with good moose numbers in the northern regions.
Zone 6 - covers the Peace River block, from the NWT border in the north to Fox Creek in the south. Agricultural land in the fertile Peace area is predominate, with boreal forest covering the rest of the zone. Bear, Whitetail, geese, moose are popular species, along with some excellent fishing opportunities in lakes such as Sturgeon and Slave.
