Alberta Fisheries Initiatives

The Alberta Fish and Game Association (AFGA) is called on frequently to engage on issues impacting our fisheries resource and the recreational past time of sportfishing. The following documents are intended to provide an understanding of the evolving foundation that helps guide AFGA’s advocacy and program initiatives related to fisheries management in Alberta.

This information is not a complete resource or reference containing all AFGA letters, submissions, or input into the broad range of issues that impact sportfishing, fish, or their habitat in Alberta, where the AFGA is involved. Instead, it is focused on providing critical documents outlining AFGA’s perspectives and viewpoints.

We take seriously the responsibility to represent our members and the broader angling community both transparently, and with accountability. This work is undertaken through concerned AFGA members, clubs, zones, the AFGA Fisheries Caucus, AFGA Provincial Fish Chair, Provincial AFGA Executive, and the AFGA Staff.

We urge all Alberta anglers to become involved with the AFGA as the future of sportfishing will be shaped by your involvement and support. For more details related to AFGA’s advocacy and program initiatives tied to fisheries in Alberta, please contact the AFGA Provincial Fish Chair at fishchair@afga.org
